RAELENE PLANT
Seattle, Washington–based artist Raelene Plant began painting at a young age. Under the guidance of a local artist, she develops her skills using oil-based paints. She began creating art by painting landscapes as gifts for her family members. Those early years helped shape the artist she has become. A pivotal moment in her career came while sketching in pencil, when she wondered if the dramatic contrast and subtle blending, which she loved in black and white drawings could be recreated with oil paint. That simple question sparked a new creative direction, leading her to develop the signature style that has become to define her work.
Raelene draws inspiration from her personal taste in locations, fashion, and style, creating compositions that balance familiarity with unexpected juxtapositions. Many of her works are scenes she can envision herself within, and she hopes they invite viewers to see themselves reflected in the imagery in their own way. While black and white remains central to her artistic identity, she incorporates selective color with intention, using it to emphasize meaningful details and guide the viewer’s eye throughout each piece.
