My name is Maria Derevenchuk Urekeanu. I was born and raised in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova and have been living in Seattle area for about 18 years. Art has always been an escape for me and over the years I found myself creating unique interior decor objects using various materials: wood, metal, plastic and the list is long. My ceramics journey started during the lockdown and it became a way for me to channel negativity and stress into art expression. I work as a sonographer or an ultrasound tech at a local hospital and my experience in healthcare has made me very aware and very appreciative of our bodies’ complexity. We are indeed beautifully made inside and out: all the shapes and forms. And this is where my inspiration comes from.
