Margaret MacLean is a ceramic artist based in Bellevue, WA. Her work takes inspiration from the natural
and organic forms found in nature.  Margaret’s porcelain sculptures begin with an initial idea or
impression that is expressed in raw clay. She then lets the form evolve organically, allowing the
end result to emerge unexpectedly. The final result is a unique piece of glazed ceramic
sculpture that reflects her thought process and the movements and bodily actions of working
with the material. Each sculpture is somewhere between the floral-botanical and the organic
forms of coastal rock and sea life. Her pieces are finished with stains and underglazes to create
a soft, natural feel.

Margaret received her BFA in Visual Arts, Ceramics from Emily Carr University of Art and Design
in Vancouver, Canada. Upon graduating she maintained a studio practice and exhibited her art
in local galleries.
